Cybele Velo – A New Cycling Space In Layton

Recently AltBlackpool’s editorial team met, and wanting to avoid the town centre we went to the new Cybele Velo facility on Coleridge Road.  We were so impressed we agreed we would do a piece on it, and here it is.

Primarily Cybele Velo is a training facility for keen cyclists and triathletes.  There are fixed ‘bikes’ where member and visitors can take part in a wide programme of classes where the machines are set to the ability of the user.  Clips from the Tour de France and other cycle races on the giant screen add an air of authenticity to the experience.  The facility also has a yoga studio upstairs with a busy weekly programme, and access to running track and pool facilities for triathletes.

The facility is the brainchild of former Great British triathlete Scott Leadbetter.  He said ‘we recognise not everyone can be a pro athlete… but at Cybelé you certainly can train and be treated like one! No matter if you are an experienced athlete or brand new to endurance sports, you’ll find a comfortable welcome at Cybelé. We dedicate our time to improving athletes of any age, ability and level of fitness.’

What we thought might interest AltBlackpool readers in particular was the cafe and social space, offering a real alternative to the drive through Costa on Devonshire Road.  It is run by Emma Louise Kitchen, and offers an array of healthy and reasonably priced options.  It’s also an option for creative meetings over coffee, with several seating options including larger tables and an area of comfy chairs and settees.

Cybele Velo is next to Links Signs and Graphics on the east side of Coleridge Road, you can find details at http://www.cybelevelo.com.  The cycling facility is open every day, with classes at weekends as well as weekdays.  For further details of the cafe are available on the Cybele Velo website, and also on Facebook at Emma Louise Kitchen.
